(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week, here are some examples:
Oct 30:
– Two break-ins reported at a residence on the 12th Line West of Seymour Twp in the past week. Homeowner still determining the missing items.
– An Austin Mini Cooper was measured to be travelling 156 km/h in an 80 km/h zone southbound on County Rd 28 near the 7th Line West Port Hope at 10:40am. A 63 year old Kingston, Ontario man was charged with Stunt Driving: Excessive Speed, failing to provide his insurance card or permit. His licence was seized and vehicle impounded for 7 days
– A farmer on the 7th Line East Seymour Twp reported the theft of three chainsaws
– A Brighton business in the Industrial Park reported two break-in attempts within the past three weeks. Investigation ongoing
Oct 31:
– An intoxicated 25 yr old female from Trenton was arrested on Bullis Rd Brighton after leaving a Halloween party and attempting to enter another residence. She was charged with a liquor offence and held by police until sober.
– Police responded to a domestic disturbance at 3am in Colborne where an intoxicated couple were arguing. They were separated for the night and no charges resulted
– A 37 yr old Mississauga man was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed 154 km/h on Hwy 401 in Port Hope. His 2016 Dodge Ram truck was impounded for 7 days and his licence suspended for the same period of time
– Police attended a Brighton home where a separated couple were arguing over property. A family member assisted with the property exchange and no further arguments occurred that day. No charges resulted
Nov 1:
– Police were called to a Warkworth area home after an uninvited party guest became intoxicated and belligerent. The man had left prior to police arriving
– Two Port Hope residents reported hearing explosions. Officers located persons shooting at exploding targets. No charges resulted
– A 20 yr old Campbellford man was charged with Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving and other offences when he refused to stop for police on County Rd 30 in the Brighton area. The black VW Jetta left the roadway at the intersection of Platt Rd and Concession Rd 2 in Percy Twp where the uninjured driver was arrested without incident. His female passenger, who was released without charges, was also not injured. The male, Alexander MOSKALYK, has an impending court date on December 30, 2015 in Cobourg.
– A 49 yr old man with a mental health disability was spoken to by police after he was reported to have looked into the windows of a home in Campbellford.
Nov 2:
– Police checked on the well-being of an elderly Percy Twp resident at the request of a family member. He was found to be in good health and in the care of a visiting support worker.
– The caregiver of an elderly Brighton woman contacted police for assistance in placing her in a more suitable home. Officers located an empty bed in a Port Hope nursing home and transported her there temporarily until support agencies could find a more permanent residence.
– The Colborne Public School reported damages to their yard and playground equipment sometime over the weekend. Investigation ongoing.
– A 28 yr old Campbellford man was charged with driving while his licence was under suspension on County Rd 30 in Seymour Twp
Nov 3:
– A truck owner reported that someone had attempted to steal his GMC Sierra pickup truck while it was parked in the commuter lot at Burnham St and Hwy 401 during the day. Damages include a broken door handle and steering column. Investigation ongoing.
– Police were called to a Colborne home where a son was fighting with his mother over being awakened at 8am. Officers attended and removed the 20 yr old son from the residence at the request of his mother. No charges resulted
– Police responded to an unwanted person call at an Alderville First Nations agency. Officers attended and spoke to the ex-employee who agreed not to return.
– A white 2014 GMC Savana cargo van with Ont. Lic #AJ99961 was reported stolen from a Alnwick-Haldimand Twp farm. Investigation ongoing.
Nov 4:
– Seven motorists were charged with various offences (primarily speeding) related to the construction zone of Hwy 401 in the Cobourg area today.
– A Seymour Twp resident complained that he was being harassed by a neighbour after various municipal agencies contacted him with complaints. Officers determined that nothing criminal in nature had occurred and provided him with advice.
– Police assisted an elderly Percy Twp couple by making a referral to a geriatric agency when day-to-day tasks were reportedly becoming more difficult.
– A Brighton motorist contacted police when damage was caused to his tires and rims when he drove over damaged roadway in a construction zone on County Rd 64
Nov 5:
– Two missing youths from a Brighton foster home returned after being absent for two days. Several agencies became involved in supporting them in an attempt to prevent this from happening again.
– A Campbellford newspaper delivery person reported being bitten by a dog on Second St. Investigation ongoing in an attempt to locate the dog and owner.
– A youth was reported missing from a Campbellford foster home. Ongoing investigation to ascertain the whereabouts of the youth.
Northumberland OPP also investigated 15 accidental 911 calls, 18 motor vehicle collisions, 53 traffic related complaints and conducted 11 RIDE programs.
