(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week, here are some examples:
Dec 18:
Police spoke to a Colborne couple who were arguing over their relationship. No charges resulted
Report of damage to a garage door at a residence on Bonnett Rd in Cramahe Twp in an apparent attempt to break in to the home. Nothing missing.
A 37 yr old Napanee man was charged with driving while his licence was under suspension in Campbellford
Dec 19:
An officer observed what appeared to be a driver texting on Division St in Cobourg. The driver of the white GMC Sonoma mounted a curb when it was being stopped by police. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the Cobourg detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, Steven PALFREY age 23 of Cobourg was charged with Having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol, Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on January 13, 2016
Report of mailboxes damaged on Vernonville Rd and Locke Rd in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp overnight
Break-in reported to a seasonal residence on Sunnybrae Lane in Percy Twp. Items taken include an older style 80cc Yamaha motorcycle white/green in colour, an Stihl chainsaw 18”, a Dewalt drill with battery and charger, a Humminbird fish finder, two fishing rods and tackle. Investigation ongoing
Dec 20:
32 year old Edward MAZUREK of Cramahe Twp was arrested and charged by the Northumberland OPP Street Response Team (SRT) for failing to comply with a recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.
50 year old Robert BROWN of Seymour Twp was arrested and charged with Break & Enter and Theft Under $5,000 after an investigation at a seasonal trailer park in Trent Hills. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on February 2, 2016
Report of an unlocked vehicle on Saskatoon Av in Campbellford entered at 10:38pm, nothing taken. Officers patrolled the area but did not locate the suspect. Police would like to remind the public to lock their vehicles when unattended to avoid becoming a victim of theft.
Dec 21:
Police are investigating a report of illegal dumping on Klein St in Port Hope
The owner of an underground home in Trent Hills was provided advice by an officer regarding his legal battles with various levels of government. This was deemed to be civil in nature and not a police matter.
Police attended a Cramahe Twp home where a couple were arguing. They were separated for the night and no charges resulted
Dec 22:
A Brighton resident reported that someone had purposefully left roofing nails on his driveway. No damages occurred and the investigation is ongoing
Two assault investigations initiated at the Warkworth Institution
A 47 year old Brampton woman was charged with Careless Driving and Fail to Remain at the scene of an accident after she collided with a truck while travelling eastbound in Hwy 401 in the Cramahe Twp area. She was located east of the collision scene and charged accordingly. Both vehicles sustained minor damages and no injuries were reported.
Northumberland OPP officers also conducted 17 RIDE programs, investigated five accidental 911 calls, 17 motor vehicle collisions and 43 traffic related complaints.
