(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week, here are some examples:
Mar 29:
Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Campbellford home resulting in the female partner being arrested and charged with Spousal Assault. She was released with an impending court date. Names withheld
A Dodge Calibre was stopped on Burnham St Hamilton Twp for littering on the roadway. The driver was found to be driving while disqualified by a court order. The 29 yr old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with that offence. He was released with an impending court date.
Report of a car fire on Hwy 401 near the Smithfield overpass. Brighton Fire Dep’t attended and put out the fire which was not suspicious in nature. Suspected electrical malfunction. No injuries sustained.
Mar 30:
Attempted break in reported to a home on Richmond St. Brighton sometime during the day. Investigation ongoing.
Police responded to a family dispute in Hamilton Twp when an unwanted family member showed up unannounced. That person was advised she was no longer welcome on the property. No charges resulted.
Police provided traffic control on County Rd 45 in Hamilton Twp when a tractor-trailer became stuck when attempting to negotiate a U-turn. The road was closed to traffic for a little over an hour while a tow company assisted the driver out of the ditch.
Mar 31:
Representatives from a rental company requested police assistance in re-claiming their generators from a Cramahe Twp property. Officers stood by while the items were collected without incident.
A Brighton senior called police after being contacted by a company offering to ‘fix’ his computer. He recognized this as a fraud and did not co-operate with them. No personal information was given nor any money lost.
Police assisted the Brighton Fire Dep’t at a house fire on Long Reach Rd by identifying and contacting the occupants who were not home as well as traffic control.
Northumberland OPP officers also investigated nine accidental 911 calls, nine motor vehicle collisions and 16 traffic related complaints.
