(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week, here are some examples:
Apr 11:
A possible case of financial abuse reported by the resident of a long term care facility in Brighton. Investigation ongoing.
A Hamilton Twp resident reported a fraudulent purchase on his credit card in the amount of $335. Investigation ongoing.
Report of illegal dumping of trash at a cemetery on Whites Rd Smithfield area. Officers and Municipality to monitor.
Report of several cattle on County Rd 2 near Townline Rd. The owner attended prior to police arrival and removed them from the roadway
Apr 12:
A driver reported hitting a coyote at 1am on County Rd 8 near Catchmore Rd in Trent Hills. The animal was located deceased and damages to the Nissan van were estimated in excess of $2,000. The driver was not injured and the vehicle remained driveable.
The Home Hardware Store in Brighton reported paint splashed on the exterior walls and loading dock area sometime overnight. Investigation ongoing.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Seymour Twp home. As a result of the ensuing investigation, a male was charged with four counts of Spousal Assault, two counts of Uttering Death Threats, Mischief Under $5,000 and Unlawfully being in a dwelling. He was held for a bail hearing. Names withheld.
Apr 13:
Paramedics requested police assistance in controlling a patient at a Brighton home who was experiencing a seizure at 4:00am.
Motorist reported a tractor-trailer carrying livestock on Hwy 401 in the Cobourg area with a possible rear door defect that could cause it to open unexpectedly. The truck was located and rear door secured.
Report of a green 2005 Honda 350cc ATV stolen from a garage on 7th Line East in Seymour Twp sometime in the past three days. No licence plates, VIN # 1HFTE252254400359.
Apr 14:
A Hamilton Twp resident on Harwood Rd reported that someone had poured sugar in her cars gas tank overnight. Investigation ongoing.
Report of a break in to a shed on Bonnett Rd in Cramahe Twp sometime over the past six months. A Stihl 1-034 Chainsaw, serial #228223403 was taken.
Police were called to a Warkworth home for a loud party. Officers cautioned the homeowner and monitored the area as guests left. No further calls were received.
Northumberland OPP officers also investigated four accidental 911 calls, 11 motor vehicle collisions and 23 traffic related complaints.
