(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 213 incidents over this four day period, here are some examples:
Aug 8:
Police were called to a Cramahe Twp home where a man was threatening self-harm. EMS transported him to a nearby hospital for mental health treatment.
A 33 yr old Quinte West man was arrested and charged in Brighton for breaching the conditions of a probation order not to associate with a certain individual. He was held for a bail hearing scheduled the next day
An Alnwick-Haldimand Twp business contacted police concerned over the well-being of an employee displaying erratic behaviours at work. Officers counselled the worker and ensured that the employer would provide counselling.
Aug 9:
A Cramahe Twp business on Industrial Park Rd reported a break-in that occurred Saturday night. Several items taken and the investigation is ongoing.
A Campbellford parent gave a deactivated cell phone to her children to play with not realizing that it was still capable of dialing 911, which it did. Officers attended the address and ensured that there was no emergency
Police attended an Alnwick-Haldimand Twp home in response to an intentional overdose. The 17 yr old youth was taken to a nearby hospital by EMS for treatment and mental health assessment.
Aug 10:
Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Campbellford residence where one partner was threatening self-harm. He was taken to a nearby hospital for a mental health assessment and the investigation is ongoing.
Report received of a damaged portable toilet at a construction site Nagle Rd at the Hwy 401 overpass in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp possibly caused by a vehicle.
Police attended a Campbellford residential complex where two females where arguing over rumours apparently spread by one of them. Officers spoke to everyone involved and no charges resulted. Alcohol was a contributing factor the escalation of the disagreement.
Aug 11:
At 12:55am police responded to a report of a missing senior who suffers from dementia. Officers located the Campbellford man lying face down in a ditch approximately 200m from his residence. He was unable to get up. EMS attended and transported the senior to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
A Brighton resident requested police speak to his elderly neighbour about turning the volume down on his television. Officers determined that the senior was hard of hearing and advised him of the complaint
Report of several cows on Noonan Rd in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp. The animals were gone when police arrived.
**Northumberland OPP officers also investigated eight accidental 911 calls, 16 motor vehicle collisions, and 48 traffic related complaints during this time period.
