(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past weekend. Here are some examples:
Mar 18:
Police responded to a Seymour Twp home for a family dispute. Officers determined that two brothers were physically fighting over a girl. One sustained minor injuries and no charges resulted
Report of a break-in to a 2nd Line East Seymour Twp home sometime during the day. Medications taken, investigation ongoing
A 74 yr old Belleville woman was charged with Mischief Under $5,000 after an altercation over a disabled parking spot at No Frills in Brighton that lead to a car being ‘keyed’.
A 50 yr old Percy Twp man was given a 3 day licence suspension after registering between 50-80mg at a roadside test. Officers located the red Chrysler 300 on County Rd 25 in the Morganston area after receiving a complaint of open liquor in the vehicle. He faces charges of driving with open liquor in a motor vehicle in addition to other highway traffic offences
Mar 19:
Police responded to a report of a Honda Accord that had rolled over on Towerline Rd in Brighton at 3:45am. The ensuing investigation resulted in the driver, who sustained minor injuries, being charged with Care & Control of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol, having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood and being a Novice driver, having a blood alcohol content (BAC) over zero. Trevor WILSON age 18 of Cramahe Twp, ON was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on April 5, 2016
Officers located a white GMC pickup truck on Concession Rd 13 Percy Twp at 6:38am that had apparently been involved in a single motor vehicle collision. The driver, who was not injured, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and taken to the Campbellford detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, Darren Donald MOORE age 28 of Hastings, ON is charged with Care & Control of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol, having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on April 13, 2016.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Hamilton Twp where a couple were arguing over relationship issues fueled by the consumption of alcohol. One partner and three children spent the night elsewhere. No charges resulted.
Mar 20:
At 3:16am police responded to an alarm at Dreamcatcher Convenience located on County Rd 45 in Alderville First Nations. Officers determined that the building had been forcibly entered and cigarettes taken. A white car and a dark coloured van were observed in the area at the time of the break-in. At 7:41am police were notified of an abandoned green Plymouth van on County 35 near County Rd 25 in Percy Twp. The van had been stolen from the Scarborough area the previous night but yet to be reported to police. It is believed that this van was involved in the break-in accompanied by a white car. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Cobourg detachment at 905-372-5421 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
A found trailer licence plate on County Rd 64 in Brighton was turned in to police
A possibly intoxicated male in a red coat was observed to be knocking over garbage cans along Main St in Brighton at 10pm. Officers were unable to locate the man and no further calls were received.
Northumberland OPP officers also conducted five RIDE programs, investigated six accidental 911 calls, five motor vehicle collisions and 29 traffic related complaints.
