At the last council meeting (18Nov2013) a member of the public
gallery asked if they were going to clear all the sidewalks this
winter in Wingham. Last year children had to walk to school on
icy and snow packed roads, because town staff dumped the snow from
the road directly on to the sidewalks, making it next to impossible
for homeowners to clear. People in mobility scooters and in
wheelchairs also suffered from the blocked sidewalks, and were
forced to travel on the road with the traffic. Councillors
claim our taxes would soar if they cleared the sidewalks, this is
despite the fact the sidewalk guy” drives by numerous sections of
blocked sidewalk on his route. Simply directing the sidewalk
