NOISEY MUFFLER LEADS TO CRIMINAL CHARGES

(Selwyn Township, ON) – On Saturday October 26, at approximately 9:00 pm officers from Peterborough County OPP investigated a motorist with a loud muffler on Ward Street in Bridgenorth.

OPP officers encountered a Chevrolet Blazer traveling south on Ward Street with an extremely loud muffler. The vehicle was stopped as it entered the City of Peterborough on Chemong Road. As the officers followed the vehicle it was noted that it was weaving within its lane. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was investigated.

As a result of the investigation the driver was identified as 26year old Brett PILON of Selwyn Township. Through conversation and observations of the male, officers formed the grounds to believe that he was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was arrested and placed in the rear of the OPP cruiser at which time he began to kick at the windows and doors of the cruiser, and then began to utter threats and profanities towards the arresting officer.

The male was transported to Peterborough Detachment where he refused to provide a breath sample.

As a result of the investigation PILON was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor vehicle, Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample, Uttering a Threat, Failing to Comply with a Recognizance x2, and Unnecessary Noise under the Highway Traffic Act.

PILON was scheduled to appear in Peterborough Provincial courts on October 28th for a Bail Hearing.
