(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 13, 2015 at approximately 2:18 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Conservation Road near Watson Road in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
Police spoke with the driver of a 2005 Toyota that entered into the check point and detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device Test demand was made by the officer and the driver refused to provide a breath sample.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Nladimir VELENTA age 50 of Newmarket has been charged with Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 13, 2015 to answer to the charge.
