(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – At approximately 7:40p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the driver being arrested for an alcohol related offence.
The traffic stop was conducted on Mary Street, West and the subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Nicholas Buma, 21 years of age, of Lindsay. Mr. Buma was charged with the offence of driving a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs of alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on August 23, 2018.
