Nevin DESHANDE – Refuse To Blow

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On December 19, 2015 at approximately 12:14 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Highway 6 near College Avenue in the City of Guelph.

Officers spoke with the male driver of a 2006 Nissan that entered into the spot check and immediately detected the odour of alcohol on his breath. The Roadside Screening Device demand was read to the driver and he refused to provide a sample of his breath for analysis.

The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

24-year-old Nevin DESHANDE of Guelph has been charged with Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 12, 2016 to answer to the charge.
