Neil Vincent & Possible Conflict Of Interest Regarding Trailer Park Fiasco

Reeve Neil Vincent was not at last night’s COW meeting, nor was he available to appear on AM920 Monday morning with the trailer people to discuss the trailer park issue.

Reeve Vincent stated at one council meeting, that he had received a record number of calls and emails regarding Council’s decision to sell the Wingham trailer park, the most calls he has ever gotten.

Last night, Councillors admitted that they had no idea how many people contacted Neil Vincent, nor did they know if those people were for, or against the sale. Those that took the effort to contact our Reeve Neil Vincent had their voices fall on deaf ears.

Reeve Vincent previously stated that he had conversations with parties that were interested in buying the trailer park. A member of the public gallery stated that the Reeve shouldn’t be taking part in private conversations regarding the sale of any North Huron assets, and those conversations should have been deferred to our town clerk to avoid a possible conflict of interest.

At last night’s council meeting, Bill Knott addressed council with a one of the letters he has received regarding the trailer park. He also pleaded with council to repeal M338/11. Deputy Reeve responded to Bill’s plea. Deputy Reeve David Riach appeared to be reading a prepared response, and stated that they are still going ahead with the sale of the trailer park via RFP. If David Riach did read a prepared statement, it proves that council was not going to consider any of the arguments that were going to be presented by the trailer park coalition.
