(NORTH BAY, ON) – On May 19, 2018, officers from the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle northbound on Highway 11 from the Village of Burk’s Falls, Ontario, where the driver failed to pay for gas.
Officers located the vehicle in the City of North Bay, Ontario, and began an investigation. The vehicle had been reported as stolen, from Hamilton, Ontario.
The driver, Nathan BARRETT, age 27, from the Township of Loyalist, Ontario, has been charged with the following:
Theft under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC; and
Fail to comply with probation x 2 contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario.
