(AMHERSTVIEW, ON)- On Friday, February 3, 2017 at 12:45 p.m. officers with the Loyalist detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Amherst Drive in Amherstview, Loyalist Township. One of the vehicles involved, a grey Chrysler 300, left the scene before police arrived.
At 1:27 p.m. police received a report of a suspected impaired driver who almost hit other vehicles traveling westbound on Highway 401 in Tyendinaga Township.
It was determined that the suspect vehicle was the same vehicle that had been involved in the fail to remain in Amherstview less than an hour earlier.
Police observed the vehicle on Highway 401 driving erratically, shoulder to shoulder. The vehicle accelerated turning sharply on the Marysville Road off ramp, causing the vehicle to go into the ditch, smash through a large 8-by-8 sign post at which point the vehicle came back onto the roadway, driving the wrong direction on the on ramp.
Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired.
Charged with Impaired Driving, Dangerous Driving, Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample, Resisting a Peace Officer, Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and Drive Motor Vehicle with No Insurance is 33 year-old Julia RAMSAY of Stone Mills Township.
She was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on February 21, 2017.
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO OVER 80 CHARGE
(NAPANEE, ON)- On February 3rd, 2017 at 3:36 p.m. OPP Communications Centre received a traffic complaint of a white Ford Escape travelling westbound on County Road 1 West, Town of Greater Napanee.
Information provided was the vehicle was swerving into the oncoming lane and onto the shoulder of the highway.
Police stopped the vehicle near Deseronto Road and conducted a roadside alcohol screening device test on the driver. After registering a fail on the device the driver was arrested for over 80 mgs and transported to Napanee OPP detachment for further breath tests.
Charged with Over 80 mgs is 25 year-old Chauntelle CURLETTE of Quinte West. She was released on a Promise to Appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on February 14, 2017.
STUNT DRIVING CHARGES
(NAPANEE, ON)- On Saturday, February 4th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., an officer with the Napanee detachment of the OPP conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 401 near Beachwood Road stopped an eastbound vehicle travelling at 152 km/h.
The driver, a 23 year-old Kingston man was charged with stunt driving and had his vehicle seized and impounded for seven days. His driver’s licence was also suspended for seven days.
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on
March 2, 2017.
(NAPANEE, ON)- On February 5th, 2017 at 11:05 a.m., an officer with the Napanee OPP on patrol on Highway 401 eastbound in Quinte West stopped a pickup truck travelling 157 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.
It was snowing at the time and the driver had his three year-old daughter in the backseat of the vehicle.
A 30 year-old Brighton man was charged with stunt driving, the truck was seized and impounded on the spot for seven days, and he received a seven day drivers licence suspension. He is scheduled to appear in court in Napanee.
(NAPANEE, ON)- On Monday, February 6th, 2017, at 11:50 p.m., an officer with the Napanee OPP conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 401 just west of Napanee stopped a vehicle travelling eastbound at 175 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.
A 24 year-old Oshawa man was charged with stunt driving, had his rental vehicle seized for seven days, his driver’s licence suspended for seven days and is scheduled to appear in court in Napanee on March 2, 2017.
STOLEN VEHICLE
(ODESSA, ON)- On February 5th, 2017, a business owner reported his pick-up truck stolen from the car pool parking lot located on County Road 4 at the 401, Loyalist Township.
The truck was stolen sometime after 9:30 p.m. February 4th and 10:30 a.m. February 5th.
The truck, a dark Green 1997 GMC Sierra bearing Ontario Licence 413 4TY, has the lower panel painted silver with business markings “ E.Coating” on the lower panels and “Sand Blasting & Painting” written on the box sides.
The vehicle was locked and had a snow plow attachment in the bed of the truck.
