Name Released In Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(PORT HOPE, ON) – On Friday December 19, 2014 just before 3:00 pm Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a fatal pedestrian motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Port Hope.

At approximately 2:43 pm OPP received a report of a pedestrian being struck by an east bound vehicle west of Ontario Street in the Municipality of Port Hope. OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TTCI) attended to assist with this investigation that kept the 401 closed for several hours on a busy start to the Winter Break for travelers.

Paul J. CHAMBERS, age 48 from Belleville, Ontario has been identified as the deceased in this collision.

Officers have completed this thorough investigation. There will be no charges forthcoming in this incident.
