On September 16, 2014 at approximately 9:04am, a car was exiting a private parking lot on Mercer Road in Cambridge. The car struck a van which was northbound on Mercer Road. The car then accelerated and struck a 6 year old female pedestrian standing on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was dragged a short distance until the car struck a house. The 6 year old Cambridge resident was transported to the hospital with serious undetermined injuries. The occupants of the car were treated for minor injuries. A 33 year old Cambridge woman driving the car was charged with Careless Driving. The investigation is continuing by members of the Traffic Services Branch.
