MVC PERSONAL INJURY

On October 23rd 2014 at approximately 6am, Waterloo Regional Police along with three local fire services and paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of Fountain Street North and Woolwich Street South in the Township of Woolwich. Upon arrival, police located a single motor vehicle in the pond area. The motor vehicle was determined to be unoccupied and sustained significant damage. The vehicle had theft the roadway while entering a curve on Woolwich Street South, drove over a large grass area, crossed Fountain Street North and then came to rest in a pond. Based on evidence at the scene, the involved driver sustained unknown injuries from the collision. The pond and surrounding area were checked extensively by a police K9 as well as the Cambridge Fire Department rescue boat. A search of the area was also conducted by responding police. The investigation was continued by responding officers and the involved driver was located later in the day. The driver is identified as a male Kitchener resident, age 25. The driver sustained minor injuries and sought medical treatment on his own. The driver was subsequently charged with Careless Driving, Failure to Remain and the Scene of a Collision and Failure to report a Collision contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
