(UPSALA, ON) – At approximately 10:45pm on October 19, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified of a multi-vehicle collision that had occurred on Highway # 17 approximately 15 km east of English River. When officers arrived on scene it was determined that a pickup truck that had been travelling westbound on Highway # 17 had impacted with an eastbound commercial motor vehicle.
It has now been confirmed that five adult males were killed in the collision. The driver of the tractor trailer unit has been identified as 43-year-old Sukhwinder S. THANDI of Cambridge, Ontario.
Post mortems for the four deceased male occupants of the pickup truck are being conducted in Toronto. The names of the deceased cannot be released until they have been positively identified.
The investigation is continuing. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
