(HAMILTON TWP, ON) –On April 18, 2016 at 3:15pm the Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Harwood Road near Cedar Creek Trail in Hamilton Township.
Witnesses advised that a southbound motorcycle with a passenger collided ‘head on’ with an SUV.
Attending officers closed Harwood Road to all traffic between Clapperton Road and Racetrack Road due to the serious nature of the injuries. The road was closed for approximately five hours to allow for a proper investigation by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and detachment officers.
The 55 year old motorcycle driver was transported to an area hospital where he was airlifted to a Toronto area trauma centre with life threatening injuries. His condition remains ‘stable’. His female passenger was also transported to an area hospital and airlifted to a Toronto area trauma centre with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV received minor injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
