(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 58-year-old male with a Highway Traffic Act offence after a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle that occurred at a Haldimand Road 3 and Haldimand Road 70 address in Jarvis, Haldimand County, Ontario.
On Wednesday August 24, 2016, at approximately 7:20 a.m., OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County Paramedics responded to Haldimand Road 3 west of Haldimand Road 70 for a collision involving a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and a grey Yamaha motorcycle where the driver of the motorcycle sustained injuries.
OPP investigated and determined that the Yamaha motorcycle was travelling westbound on Haldimand Road 3 near Haldimand Road 70 behind the Toyota pickup truck when the pickup truck slowed down in the westbound lane and the motorcycle and the pickup truck collided.
The 51-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was transported by paramedics to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
OPP has charged 58-year-old Fernando MATIAS of Hamilton, Ontario with Left Turn – Fail to Afford Reasonable Opportunity to Avoid Collision under the Highway Traffic Act.
