At approximately 7:30 pm on February 1, 2014 a Chatham-Kent police cruiser was traveling Southbound on St. Clair Street, Chatham approaching the street light in front of Walmart. As the cruiser approached the intersection a van traveling northbound turned left into the path of the oncoming cruiser. The force of the collision caused the van to tip onto its side, trapping the occupants. Chatham Kent Fire Services extricated the occupants without incident. There were minor injuries sustained as a result of the collision with 2 of the occupants from the van as well as the involved officer being treated at Chatham Kent Health Alliance – Public General Campus. Estimated damage to the involved vehicles is $40,000. ‎The collision remains under investigation.
