Motor Vehicle Collision in Ignace area closes Highway 17

(Ignace, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Ignace Detachment officers responded to a multi vehicle collision on Highway 17, approximately 20 km West of Ignace on Sunday the 18th of January 2015 at approximately 3:30 p.m. There were 5 commercial motor vehicles and 1 pickup truck involved in the collision.

Ignace Volunteer Fire Department and Ignace Ambulance attended the collision scene. The lone occupant of the pick up truck was transported to Dryden by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 17 was closed completely for approximately 2 1/2 hours to facilitate the removal and clean up of vehicles involved in the collision.

Harish SHARMA, 35 years, of Brampton, Ontario has been charged with Commercial Vehicle – Follow too Closely contrary to Section 158(2) of the Highway Traffic Act.
