(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Saturday evening May 22, 2010 shortly after 6 p.m. an OPP officer on patrol observed a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Hwy. 7 south of St.Marys. The vehicle engine was running but no occupant could be seen sitting in the vehicle. The officer checked the vehicle and found a female in the driver’s seat, passed out. A 3 year old child was asleep in a rear car seat.
The female, who was the mother of the child, was found to be highly intoxicated and the officer located a partial bottle of vodka at her feet. The female was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where she registered over .80 mgs. on the Intoxilyzer.
The 43 year old female from Toronto has been charged with impaired operation and exceeding 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content. She is to appear in criminal court on June 28, 2010 in Stratford to answer to these charges.
The Huron Perth and Toronto Children’s Aid societies have been contacted and are looking into this incident. The child was transported safely back to Toronto.
