(BRIGHTON, ON) – On Monday September 30, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a break and enter at a local hotel in the Town of Brighton where a large quantity of Canadian and US dollar currency was stolen.
At approximately 4:50 am OPP officers attended to the Presqu’ile Beach Motel where the owner indicated sometime between late afternoon on September 29 and the time of the report to police, a screened window had been entered into the residential and office areas of the business. Once inside, suspects had removed a lock box containing $400 US currency from the office, $5,300 in both Canadian and US currency from a basket and a jewellery box with assorted valuable items inside from the bedroom in the residential area. The jewellery box was located by police. The estimated value of the jewellery stolen is undetermined at this time.
A detachment Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) attended to assist with investigation which OPP are continuing.
