More Senseless Damage In St. Marys

(ST.MARYS, ON) On Sunday July 14, 2013, around 12:30 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on patrol in St.Marys were flagged down by an individual who told the officers of a burning hydro pole at Kinsman Park.

The officers attended the location of Timms Lane and St. George St North and observed a burning fiberglass portable outhouse that was secured to a hydro pole. The pole had also caught fire. The St.Marys Fire Department extinguished the fire while Festival Hydro was contacted to ensure the safety of the pole.

While at the Kinsman Park outhouse fire, the St.Marys Fire Department was dispatched to a fire of a similar nature near Water St. and Park St. Upon arrival at the second location, fire fighters and police observed a burning fiberglass portable outhouse that was secured to a chain link fence. This fire was also quickly extinguished.

The total damage to the outhouses is estimated to be around $3,000

At 4:09 a.m. on Sunday July 14, 2013 an OPP officer on patrol on Water St. South located two large planters tossed onto the road. The planters had been taken from in front of the Water St. Coin Laundry and “Sweet Treats”. The damaged planters were up righted by the officer. It was determined that this senseless vandalism occurred shortly before 4 a.m.
