(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – This weekend officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes arrested and charged two drivers with alcohol related driving offences.
On February 4, 2017 at approximately 3:30 am officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Emily Park Road. A canine track was initiated, utilizing members of the OPP’s Canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the vehicle driver was located hiding from police a short time later. Arrested and charged with the following offences is 22 year old Kurtis BLACKETT of Omemee:
Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Driving With More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
Fail to Remain contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Fail to Report Accident contrary to section 199(1) HTA
Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero contrary to section 44.1(3) HTA
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on March 9, 2017.
While officers were investigating the above crash on Emily Park Road (February 4, 2017 at approximately 3:30 am) a vehicle was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. Following an investigation the driver, Taylor GUIREY, 22 years of age from Omemee was arrested and charged with Driving With More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on March 9, 2017.
