More Impaired Drivers Busted

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On February 27, 2016 at approximately 10:10 p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol observed a vehicle swerving across several lanes on the Highway.

On patrol, police were traveling westbound on Highway 401 and observed a vehicle entering onto Highway 401 from Highway 403 westbound. The vehicle was observed travelling erratically and swerving across lanes.

As a result of investigation, the lone occupant, a 55 year-old male, Brian CROLEY of London was charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol)

Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

The male was released on a Promise to Appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on March 29, 2016.

(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On February 27, 2016 at approximately 11:35 p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Plank Line in South-West Oxford Township.

While conducting the RIDE program at this location a vehicle almost drove through the check point. As a result of investigation, the male driver 56 year-old Alfred STROWBRIDGE of South-West Oxford Township was charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle

Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

The male was released on a Promise to Appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on April 5, 2016.

(BLANDFORD- BLENHEIM TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On February 28, 2016 at approximately 12:44 a.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check located at Highway 2 and Blandford Road in Blandford-Blenheim Township.

While conducting the RIDE program at this location a vehicle which was travelling at a high rate of speed approached the check point, stopping after they had passed through. As a result of investigation, the male driver 32 year-old Salvador ARGUETA of London was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:

Novice driver with a blood alcohol content above zero

The male was also issued a 24 hour licence suspension.

The OPP would like to remind the motoring public that although it is not festive RIDE season we will continue to conduct RIDE checks throughout the year to keep our roads safe. Arrive alive, don’t drink and drive!
