More Impaired Drivers Busted

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two drivers on the weekend for alcohol related incidents.

The first arrest occurred on Saturday September 3, 2016 at approximately 3:55 pm. An erratic driver was reported by concerned motorists travelling northbound from Coboconk on Highway 35. The driver of the vehicle having turned into a side road was prevented from leaving the area by the concerned citizens. Arrested and charged with the following offences is 52 year old Carol MANNING of Georgina:

Driving While Ability Impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Driving With More than 80mg of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 20, 2016.

A second driver was arrested on Sunday September 4, 2016 in Bobcaygeon at approximately 10:30am. The investigation was initiated for a Highway Traffic Act violation. The driver, 55 year old Stephen BATE of Bobcaygeon was charged with the following offences:

Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit contrary to section 7(1)(a) HTA

Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

Driving with More than 80mg of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Driving While Disqualified contrary to section 259(4) CCC

Unauthorized Possession of Weapon contrary to section 91(2) CCC

Transport Firearm or Ammunition in a Careless Manner contrary to section 86(1) CCC

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Lindsay.
