(ARNPRIOR, ON) – On July 30, 2016 at approximately 4:39am, an incendiary device was thrown through a window of a residence on Spruce Street in Arnprior. A fire ensued and the Arnprior Fire Department attended the scene and extinguished the fire. The Ontario Fire Marshal was requested to attend the scene to assist the Renfrew OPP in the ongoing investigation. No one suffered injuries at this residence.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), assisted by the Renfrew/Upper Ottawa Valley, Kanata and Lanark OPP Crime Units, East Region Intelligence Unit, Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Forensic Identification Unit, the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) and East Region Regional Support Team have collectively been investigating.
On August 2, 2016, two 20-year old males, Braydon MILLER of Arnprior and Noah NEUMAN of Pembroke were located in Kanata and arrested in regards to this incident. Both males were held for bail hearing and remanded into custody. The next court appearance is Friday, August 5th, 2016, in Pembroke and are charged with:
Attempt to Commit Murder
Arson-Disregard for Human Life
Arson – Damage to Property.
Mr. Miller also faces a charge of Criminal Harassment.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, on August 2, 2016 police arrested three additional persons; 20-year old Tedy WOLFE and two young persons who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). All three were held for bail hearing on August 3rd in Pembroke Provincial Court and remanded into custody. The next court appearance is Friday August 5th 2016, in Pembroke and are charged with:
Attempt to Commit Murder
Arson-Disregard for Human Life
Arson – Damage to Property.
A young person was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the other was charges with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
