MOOSE ON THE LOOSE

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has received several reports of a young moose roaming the neighbourhood in the north end of the city.

Calls were received from residents of the City of Orillia starting on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The young moose was spotted in the area of Fittons Road West, Peter Street and Jamieson Street. The moose is still in this area today.

At this time, police are monitoring the situation. The desirable end result is that the moose will safely find its way back into the forested area very soon.

This is not the first time moose have visited the city, there is a moose sighting usually once a year.

You are advised to be watchful when driving your vehicle to prevent a collision. If you see the moose, do not approach it, give it space and do not feed wildlife.
