(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – A potentially tragic motor vehicle collision was narrowly avoided on the evening of January 3, 2018. Members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called shortly before 8:00 p.m. to investigate a collision which had occurred at the intersection of Perth Line 29 and Perth Road 113.
A large mobile crane entered the intersection into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer, resulting in irreparable damage to both vehicles. The quick reaction and attention of the transport truck driver prevented the collision from being substantially worse. The driver of the crane was uninjured. The truck driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The intersection was closed for several hours and specialized equipment was required to clear the scene. Driver inattention is suspected and charges are pending following the outcome of the investigation. Intersection related collisions can be catastrophic and investigators in this incident are amazed that both drivers survived. Given the carnage at this scene
