(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – A member of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on January 1, 2014 at approximately 4:19 a.m.
The investigating officer observed a vehicle on Cedar Avenue in New Liskeard that was travelling at a high rate of speed. Within a short distance the suspect drove into a tree.
Police immediately attended to the vehicle to check the status of the driver.
Further investigation resulted in an 18-year-old male facing charges.
Mitchell WALTHER of New Liskeard is charged with Impaired Driving – section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and Over 80 – section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
Accused will appear in Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on February 11, 2014.
