Missing Red Tail Boa Constrictor

Owen Sound Police were called to a home in the area of 11th Street West and 4th Avenue West this morning. The owner of a four year old 6-foot-long red tail boa constrictor reported the snake missing. The snake which was last seen early Saturday morning escaped from its enclosure in the residence and possibly slithered out of an open ground floor window.

The residence and area have been searched, however the snake has not yet been found.

Neighbours in close proximity of the house have been told about the missing snake.

This type of snake is described generally as being docile and is not poisonous. However police are recommending you be alert with small children and pets.

This snake requires very warm temperatures and will not likely survive cold weather.

The snake is described as being approximately 6-foot-long and is yellowish in colour with dark patches that become increasingly red towards the base of its tail.

Anyone who sees the missing boa constrictor is asked to call the Owen Sound Police.
