Missing Male Located And Evacuated Via Helicopter – Minor Injuries

(MORIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Thursday September 29, 2016 at 9:00 pm the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Algoma Detachment was notified by family members that their 54 year old father had gone fishing in the morning and he failed to return home. The area he was fishing in was located off Poplar Dale Road near Rheaume Lake.

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit, friends and family began the search for the male.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Friday September 30, 2016, a family member located the male with a minor injury that prevented him from walking out of the bush. Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, Paramedics, family and friends remained with the male until he could be evacuated out by helicopter at first light.

The male took responsibility to let family know where he was and when he would return home. This led to the male being located in a timely manner so assistance could be rendered to bring him home safely.
