(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On June 13, 2016 members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of boat equipment floating on Georgian Bay north of Pointe au Baril. The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre (JRCC) at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton received a call from a boater that observed the items.
As part of the search, OPP Marine Unit, OPP Helicopter and OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) were utilized. The efforts to find the missing male came to a conclusion when the OPP USRU located the male near where the boating equipment was found floating.
Donald MCVICAR, 57 years of age from Collingwood, was found deceased. A post mortem will occur at the Centre of Forensic Science in Toronto.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the occupant of the boat was not wearing a life jacket. The investigation is ongoing.
