MISCHIEF TO VEHICLE FROM HIGHWAY 401 OVER PASS

(CRAMAHE, ON) – On Saturday October 4, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information of a motor vehicle that has been struck by something that had been thrown from an over pass on Highway 401 in Cramahe Township. Two youths were seen running from the area by the vehicle driver.

The incident occurred at Highway 401 and Herley Road overpass in Cramahe Township at about 2:39 pm when a red Mazda pickup truck had its windshield smashed from an unknown object that had been thrown by unknown persons. OPP were in the vicinity and located two 10 year old male youths in the immediate area. The boys initially denied any involvement but Police investigation determined otherwise. The boys were spoken to with their parents present and were given a severe warning from the attending officers about their actions and the potential of further dangerous consequences that could result from them. The estimated damage to the pickup truck is not known at this time.

The two youths do not meet the age requirement for criminal charges under the Youth Criminal Justice Act as they are under the age of 12.

OPP would like to remind parents to engage in discussions with their children on how to be responsible when they are not under adult supervision. The repercussions of this incident are endless with the ultimate conclusion resulting in a potential loss of life or lives.
