MISCHIEF TO ELECTION SIGNS

(BRIGHTON, ON) – With the Ontario Municipal Election soon to arrive on October 27, 2014, those seeking election to Municipal Council are posting their candidacy throughout the Municipality of Brighton by way of a yard sign to advertise.

Overnight on September 7, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of numerous candidate signs being either stolen or damaged. This theft or damage is not specific to one particular candidate and has occurred all over within the Town of Brighton.

OPP are investigating these occurrences and would like to remind residents to be vigilant in their neighbourhoods to report such incidents to police immediately.

Any persons with information regarding the persons responsible for these mischiefs should contact the Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 613-475-1313. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call the Peterborough / Northumberland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 and not have to appear in court.
