(SUDBURY, ON) – At 11:17 p.m., on March 1, 2016, members from the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 144 south of New Cobden road, in the City of Greater Sudbury.
Investigation revealed that a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) travelling southbound on Highway 144 left the roadway, drove over a snowbank and rolled over into a ditch.
Michael MILLS, 19 years of age, from Levack, was charged with the following driving related offences:
Careless driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Adult – Class G1 licence holder – carry front seat passenger, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Adult – Class G1 licence holder – drive at unlawful hour, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Adult – Class G1 licence holder – drive while blood alcohol concentration is above zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Adult – Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
