(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – If the roads look wet they are likely covered with a sheet of ice warns Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Police are currently responding to numerous motor vehicle collisions along Highway 401 and Highway 402 and motorists are urged to slow down and proceed with caution. Many drivers are currently driving as though the roads are fine when in fact, they are extremely slippery.
“Slow down, look ahead and get your full attention on your driving. Predictable is preventable and today we all need to predict that the roads will be slippery and we all need to adjust as collisions are preventable. Leave lots of space so you can come to a controlled stop if needed. Your life, other driver’s lives and the lives of emergency responders depend on it.†advises Middlesex OPP Provincial Constable Laurie Houghton.
Drivers are reminded to be prepared and keep their vehicle maintained. Make sure tires have sufficient traction and keep the windshield washer fluid topped up. Remove all distractions, expect the unexpected and don’t forget to buckle up.
