MIDDLESEX OPP RESPOND TO TWO VEHICLE COLLISION ON HWY 402

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON)- On Friday May 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision on the E/B lanes of HWY 402 east of Centre Road. The HWY was closed between Centre Road and Hickory Drive on the E/B side for just over an hour as emergency crews work to clear the scene. The HWY has sensed re-opened.

Police have learned that both involved vehicles were travelling E/B on HWY 402 when one vehicle drove into the rear of a second car. Two parties were transported to a local area hospital with non-life threating injuries.

As a result of an investigation police have issued Samantha MCGHIE, age 23 of St Clair TWP a Provincial Offence Notice (PON) for the offence of Careless Driving, as per Section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

As we enter our first long weekend of the summer police are reminding the public that caution and care must be a top priority when operating any vehicle. Police will be out if full force this weekend patrolling Ontario’s roadways, waterways and trails four the BIG FOUR factors responsible for the unnecessary loss of life and serious injuries in our Province.

This weekend and every day of the year ensure that you drive appropriately and responsibly. Ensure that everyone is buckled up, put down all the distractions, follow all the rules of the road and make sure that no one drinks and drives!
