(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND, ON) – On Saturday January 11, 2013 at about 6:50 am Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were sent to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 29 between Whitney and Noonan Roads where a deer had been struck damage to the vehicle.
An OPP officer attended and found a 2010 Hyundai Accent on the north shoulder of County Road 29. The officer conducted an investigation into the collision and charged the male with failing to surrender insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Upon further investigation, the officer detected an odour of marihuana coming from the Accent. The officer continued to investigate and found that the male was on conditions with respect to intoxicating substances. A search of the Accent found a small quantity of marihuana and other drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Michol John Kirkston KRAKENBERG, 28 from Warkworth, Ontario has been charged with possession of a schedule ll Substance – cannabis marihuana under 30 grams under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and two counts of fail to comply probation order under the Criminal Code. The accused was released to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on a recognizance of bail on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at 9:30 am in Cobourg.
