Michelle HAMMER – Dangerous Driving, Theft Of Motor Vehicle

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On June 29, 2015 at 5:50 p.m. a male attended a business in Iron Bridge and left his pickup truck parked outside. When he exited the business his truck was gone. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Blind River Detachment were notified on the stolen truck and began patrolling the area. At 7:30 p.m. an officer located the truck on Highway 17 in the Blind River area. The suspect vehicle was followed until approximately two kilometres east of Blind River where it left the roadway and entered a ditch. The driver exited the truck but was arrested by officers at 7:40 p.m. without incident.

Charged is Michelle HAMMER, 33 years of age from Calgary Alberta. She is charged with the following offences.

Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, section 249(1)(a), Criminal Code

Theft of Motor Vehicle, section 333.1, Criminal Code

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code, and

Mischief Under $ 5,000, section 430(4), Criminal Code

The accused was held in custody and attended Sault Ste Marie for a bail hearing.
