(Napanee, ON)- On January 6, 2016 at 7 p.m. officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a vehicle all over the road on Bridge Street in the Town of Greater Napanee.
A concerned citizen reported a white Chevrolet Malibu swerving and starting and stopping for no apparent reason. Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
At 7:55 p.m. police were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Gerow Road and County Road 41 just north of Napanee. The collision involved the same vehicle that had been reported driving erratically earlier.
The driver of the white Malibu, 23 year-old Michael VINE was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. He was transported to the Napanee OPP detachment for breath tests and subsequently charged with impaired driving and over .80 mgs.
VINE was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Napanee on January 19, 2016.
