Michael SCHALOW – Drunk Driving

(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP) – On June 24, 2016 at approximately 2:22 p.m. officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male pumping gas into a motor vehicle at a gas station in Waubaushene, ON.

Concerned citizens attempted to intervene and stop this male from driving but the male managed to leave the gas station. A citizen followed and was able to update police on the location of this vehicle.

Police stopped the motor vehicle on County road 16 in Severn Township a short time later. As a result of their investigation, police arrested and charged Michael SCHALOW (age 52) of Tay Township, ON with:

Driving while ability impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Entire plate not visible contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Fail to have insurance card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on July 7, 2016.

The accused also received an immediate 90 day automatic driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
