(GODERICH, ON) – A 44 year old male is facing charges of Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Red Light – Proceed Before Green following a traffic stop yesterday afternoon. Just after 4:00 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed the driver of a Buick sedan come to a stop at the intersection of Bayfield Road and Suncoast Drive. The driver of the sedan then proceeded to make a left turn onto Suncoast Drive prior to the signal changing to green. The officer followed the driver a short distance and stopped the vehicle on Suncoast Drive. Upon speaking with the driver the officer detected the driver had been drinking alcohol.
A roadside screening test was administered which the driver failed. He was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both tests were over the legal limit.
As a result, Michael ROSS, 44, from Central Huron, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol & Red Light – Proceed Before Green. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 25, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
