(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On January 5, 2016, just before 11:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at Highway 40 and Colborne Street, when a Dodge Dart entered and stopped for the officers.
While officers were speaking with the driver, 48-year-old Michael MAYNARD, from Harwich, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
Subsequent tests indicated that he was over the legal limit and will appear in a Chatham court on January 27, 2016, to answer to the charge of Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol In Blood, under the Criminal Code of Canada
Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.
