(AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday July 31st, 2016 at approximately 08:30 pm member of the East Region Highway Enforcement Team (HET) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had occasion to stop a motor vehicle on Algonquin Road in the township of Augusta for traffic violation.
During the investigation it was revealed that the driver was a suspended driver. Also the vehicle a black 2002 Jeep Cherokee did not have proper plates or proof of insurance.
As a result 23 year-old Michael EDWARDS of Brockville Ontario was charged with the following offence;
Driving while under suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.( HTA)
Owner operate motor vehicle no insurance contrary to section 2(1) (a) of the Canadian Automobile Insurance Act. (CAIA)
Deface validation contrary to section 12(1) (a) HTA.
Use plate not in accordance with act 12(1) (f) HTA.
Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner contrary to section 11(2) HTA.
The defendant was issued summons at roadside and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court, Brockville on September 7th 2016.
