(BANCROFT, ON) – One male is appearing in bail court in Belleville this morning facing serious charges after officers responded to an assault complaint at approximately 9am Monday morning.
The officers were responding to a call that a male was assaulted with a weapon in Purdy, Hastings Highlands. Upon arrival the officers were shot at and took cover. The suspect then approached the officers with a knife and was subdued with a conducted energy weapon (CEW) with no injuries to him or the officers. The victim of the original assault was transported by paramedics to Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital with serious injuries.
Michael DARCH 32 of Purdy is charged with three counts of attempting to commit murder, unauthorized possession of a weapon, placing or throwing an explosive substance, and two counts of mischief over $5,000.
Detective Constable Tracy Allen of the Bancroft OPP is leading the investigation. The investigation is continuing.
