(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 20, 2015 at approximately 12:25 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received several calls regarding a silver Mitsubishi travelling westbound on the Second Line near Highway 6 in Centre Wellington Township. Witnesses advised that the vehicle was being operated erratically and almost caused numerous accidents.
Police located the vehicle with heavy front end damage, just outside of Elora and conducted a vehicle stop. Officers quickly determined that the driver was impaired by the consumption of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days as per statute.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was on conditions not to consume alcohol and was wanted by another police service on an outstanding warrant.
