(BRIGHTON, ON) –On October 1, 2015 at 8:12pm a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling on County Road 30 when he noticed a pickup truck weaving northbound near Telephone Road.
The officer stopped the truck which almost struck a wooden guide post as it was pulling over. The driver showed signs of being impaired and was arrested. He was taken to the Brighton detachment for further tests.
As a result of these tests, Michael CALLAHAN age 54 of Brighton is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle and Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on November 3, 2015.
Police rely on the public to report crime and impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired by alcohol or other drugs and intends on driving, strongly discourage them from driving and call 9-1-1 if they insist.
